‘The glory of Yehovah filled the temple’ 2 Chronicles 7:1 (NKJV)

The temple had been finished and dedicated to Yehovah. The praise party was over, and the people had gone home. Then, in the stillness, Yehovah appeared to Solomon, and made him this promise: ‘Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually’ (2 Chronicles 7:15-16). It would be in that house, built for sacrifice and worship, that Yehovah promised that He would watch over His people, and hear their prayers ? forever. However, Solomon’s temple is no more. The bricks and mortar are gone, yet a promise that was supposed to last forever had been made. Can it still be fulfilled? Paul settles the question by reminding believers that Yehovah’s promises always remain, even if circumstances change: ‘do you not know that your body is the temple of the Ruach Hakodesh who is in you, whom you have from Yehovah?…’ (1 Corinthians 6:19). Yehovah no longer resides in temples built by human hands, but in the lives of His children, through the presence of His living Ruach Hakodesh. You are His sanctified house today; you are His temple. When the people left the dedication ceremony of Solomon’s temple, they were ‘joyful and glad of heart’ (2 Chronicles 7:10). Praise not only brings delight to Yehovah’s heart, but also to the hearts of those who praise Him. What praise is He hearing from your temple today?
