‘He has-set eternity in the human heart!’ Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

There are billions of people on planet earth right now, and billions that have lived before us. Some lives have already been lived out and are gone, but others like you and I, are in the midst of our journey through life. Each individual gets only one life. There are no second chances, no starting again or going back to the beginning. As you have just one life, so you must live it well, live it right, and live it in the light of eternity. The average length of a human life right now, in much of the western world, is about 80 years – that’s 29,200 days, or 4,160 weeks, or 960 months! However no-one is guaranteed a certain amount of time. If you walk through a cemetery, you will see that people of all ages are buried there; from the very young to the very old, and everything in-between. What is important is not actually how long you live, but how well you live. So stop the merry-go-round! You are surrounded by beeps, buzzes and vibrations, as the world constantly seeks to get your attention. There are a thousand things that you can spend your time, your money or your relationships on. It seems like everyone wants to tell you what to do, and how to live. It is easy in today’s culture to lose your bearing, and focus; being really busy, but not really living. Stop and take stock. Are you intentionally living your life, or are you just responding to the demands all around you? Stopping, looking, and evaluating, are the first steps towards making sure that your life is on the right track.
