‘Yehovah is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit’ Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Many times over the years, believers see amazing answers to prayer. They give glory to Yehovah for incredible victories, for provision, for health, and for wisdom. Many believers have prayed for healing, and have seen miracles as a result. However, sometimes prayers are not answered in the way in which you would like. Sometimes the person you are praying for dies. Sometimes things happen which make no sense. You can feel sad, confused and angry, even though you know deep in your heart that Yehovah knows best. If you are in mourning, remember that you are never alone; He longs to love you and console you, and remember that Yehovah is the source of all comfort – read the Psalms and see that it is okay to express your inner-most feelings to Yehovah in the trials you go through. If you are in a situation of caring for someone in mourning, the words of this Psalm can bring hope to those who are left behind. Remember the power of the Word of Yehovah; to bring Shalom and comfort to those who mourn. Even the strongest believers will need wisdom and friendship to help them through a time like this. There are no simple answers. Beware of letting platitudes trip off your tongue, rather the Bible says to mourn with those who mourn; grieve with those who grieve. Even when believers have the hope of a beautiful afterlife, it is still a difficult time of grief and adjustment. Look around you, and ask, ‘Yehovah, where am I needed today?’
