‘For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.’ 1 Samuel 15:23 (NKJV)

Mankind is born into rebellion. Many feel it is their right to sit in judgment of those in authority over them. Belie are no exception, critiquing the choir and criticising the sermon. It would be far better to enter into the worship experience and let the Word of Yehovah sit in judgment of us! Rebelling against Yehovah leads to nothing but trouble. As our commanding General, Yehovah says, ‘Get into ranks and follow Me. I will not lead you into temptation, and I will deliver you from evil.’ But sometimes it is easier to say, ‘No, I don?t want to follow today.’ So you fall out of ranks, do your own thing, get shot, and then blame Yehovah for not protecting you! It is also tempting to rebel against human authority. There are two Biblical responsibilities in regard to authority figures: pray for them and submit to them. The only time Yehovah permits you to disobey earthly leaders is if they require you to do something morally wrong before Yehovah, or if they attempt to operate outside the realm of their authority. Being submissive to authority demonstrates faith; you are choosing to believe that Yehovah will protect you and bless you, and that all will go well with you. Ask Yehovah to forgive you for those times you have not been submissive, and declare your trust in Yehovah to work through His established lines of authority. Pray for your leaders; those within your community, government and country. Pray that Yehovah’s wisdom will be sought and heard, and that there will be believers involved in leadership within politics, education, sport, media; that His kingdom might come on earth.
