“My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2
“Home, sweet home”; “home is where the heart is”; we all know the sayings. It is interesting to note that while many of us love to travel, to see new places or familiar places and faces of friends and relatives, it is amazing how wonderful we feel when we come home again – and sit in our own lounge or “living room.” It is so relaxing, so reassuring, so calming to be where we feel “at home”, where we “belong”, where we are accepted and loved, where we do not need to pretend that we are something we are not or put on a false image to meet the unrealistic expectations of others.
“Everybody wants to go to heaven…, but nobody wants to die” is another saying which is synonymous with those. Each of us love to travel through this earthly life, seeing and enjoying the things it has to offer – and yet it is good to remember that this world is not our home; we are just passing through – on our way to our eternal and heavenly home – where we will be welcomed with open arms by Yehovah, a warm greeting of “well done, good and faithful servant”, and find somewhere we are accepted and made to feel truly “at home”, where we belong.
Never allow yourself to be fooled by the attractions of the sights, sounds and experiences of this natural lifespan, however long it may last, to fool you into believing this is where you belong. Yeshua has gone ahead of you – to prepare a place for you, one where you will be “at home” in your Father’s house for ever and ever. Keep your eyes fixed upon your eternal destination.
